A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly running down a stranger with his car after a fight.

A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly running down a stranger with his car after a fight.

About 1pm on Wednesday, police were called to Fernvale Rd at Brassall where a 30-year-old man had been hit by a car and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police will allege the man was involved in a fight with a 26-year-old Brassall man he did not know before the alleged offender returned home to get his Mitsubishi Outlander.

It will be alleged the 26-year-old then drove back to Fernvale Rd in his car and deliberately struck the other man, before leaving the scene.

Police found the driver and the car at Caribou Dr a short time later and took the man into custody.

He has been charged with one count of attempted murder and will face Ipswich Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Investigators don’t believe the men were known to each other.

Police were seen taking photos of the Mitsubishi Outlander on Wednesday. It had a cracked windscreen and was parked in a garage on Caribou Dr.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnesses the fight to contact police.
