DEVELOPERS Lendlease have unveiled a $1.9 billion 4000 home estate in the booming community of Springfield.
Springfield Rise, which will eventually be home to more than 12,000 people, is situated between Springfield Central and White Rock Spring Mountain Conservation Reserve, connecting directly to Lendlease's first Springfield community, Springfield Lakes.
The 415ha site will boast a new primary school and Lendlease will develop more than 50ha of open space, including 15 neighbourhood parks, three lakes, bushland reserves, kilometres of walking, hiking tracks and cycling paths, and the district's biggest sporting fields.
Springfield Rise will be developed in 12 stages over the next decade. Site works are to start early next year with the first homes built late in the year.
Managing Director of Lendlease's Communities business Matthew Mears said the new estate was the closest development to the services and amenities in Springfield Central.
"Now more than ever our customers are opting for a social lifestyle that's about convenience - living close to shops and cafes with everything they need within reach," Mr Mears said.
Nearby amenities include a local village shopping centre, three existing neighbourhood centres and the expanding Orion Springfield Central including cinemas, cafes, and restaurants.
Health City, a 52ha medical and wellness precinct is nearby, incorporating the 1200-bed Mater Private Hospital.
"Springfield Rise will offer a place for residents to belong - an excellent opportunity to live, work, learn and play and become part of a community they feel proud of," Mr Mears said.
Leandlease's neighbouring Springfield Lakes development is currently home to more than 15,800 residents with 30,000 people expected to call it home.
Council's Parks, Sport and Recreation Committee chairman David Morrison welcomed the new sporting fields. He said sporting clubs in the area were crying out for more facilities.
"This will be one of the city's premiere sporting precincts which will attract local, regional, state and also national championships to the city," Cr Morrison said.
