The front of an Ipswich childcare centre is in shambles after a driver tore through the hedge and crashed into the front of the site late on New Year’s Eve.
Flinders View residents reported seeing the car speed through Ash Street, jump the roundabout at Kensington Drive and smash into the Winston Glades Early Education Centre on the corner.
One woman said the driver “nearly killed” her and her partner.
“We had to jump the gutter to get out of the way,” she said.
She also said she believed the man had been speeding.
A Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed they attended the scene after a car was seen driving dangerously in the area and crashed into the wall.
They said further inquiries are being made at this stage but no charges had been laid.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson confirmed they transported a male patient to the Ipswich Hospital in stable condition from Kensington Drive around 11.27pm on December 31.
The only visible damage was to the hedge outside the childcare centre, not the structure itself.
The centre is expected to open as normal on Tuesday after being shut for the New Year period.
