A NEW $21 million 25,000 square metre transport and logistics facility at Redbank Motorway Estate is on track to boost jobs and business.
Northline's massive operation will replace its facility at Pinkenba. It will be in the Goodman Group's $350 million Redbank Motorway Estate, a 62 hectare industrial development with direct access to the Ipswich Motorway via the Redbank Link Bridge.
It will provide more than 12,500sqm of warehousing and undercover freight operations space, including an all-weather loading and unloading breezeway.
Construction of the facility on Monash Rd, Redbank, started in January and it is expected to open mid-September.
"The improved efficiencies of the site will broaden access to our supply chain partners and reduce turnaround times of freight coming into and departing the facility," Northline chief executive Craige Whitton said.
The company said 90% of steel work is done, security cameras are being installed and other finishing touches are being done.
"Northline will be advertising for up to 10 trainees in the lead up to us opening in September," a spokeswoman said.
"This is a great opportunity for school leavers or those with no experience in the transport industry to gain employment with an industry leader whilst also obtaining a qualification."
Incorporated in 1983, Northline is a privately owned and managed Australian company specialising in road and rail freight management services, warehousing and distribution, global freight forwarding and mining, construction, oil and gas logistics.
With 13 branches across Australia, the company's extensive operation employs about 500 staff as well as full-time sub-contractors in all mainland capitals and many regional centres.
