Business dedicates awards’ win to Lockyer farmers

Farming business takes out top gong at Lockyer Valley business awards

WINNER: Business of the Year winners Mulgowie Farming Company at the 2019 Lockyer Valley Business, Training and Apprenticeship Awards.

"THIS is for all Lockyer Valley farmers."

That was the sentiment shared by Mulgowie Farming Company CEO Fabian Carniel, as the Lockyer Valley business was announced as 2019 Business of the Year.

It was a stellar night for the company at the 2019 Lockyer Valley Business, Training and Apprenticeship Awards on Saturday, taking out not just the major award, but also the Agriculture and Horticulture Award.

Mr Carniel said the award was a huge win for the business.

"We're very humbled and honoured - and it's really great to see the farming community held in such high esteem by the Lockyer Valley Regional Council," Mr Carniel said.

And it wasn't just an honour for Mulgowie, it was for all farmers.

"It's really a recognition to all the farmers in the Lockyer Valley who work tirelessly, and in the face of all the challenges - floods, fires, droughts, storms and a really tough marketplace," he said.

"The farmers keep up with their determination to deliver on healthy produce to Australian and overseas customers."

Mr Carniel said the award gave the company "heart" that the community and the council were "absolutely behind in us supporting businesses like ourselves".

In choosing Mulgowie Farming Company, the award judges noted the business "impressed in every area" and had an "independent and professional management structure".

Mr Carniel put its success down to their staff.

"Our primary success is really our people," he said. "Our people are working all hours in terms of they work around the clock within our team to fulfil the needs of the supply chain.

"At times it's not the easiest conditions to operate in, and to deliver on, and we wouldn't be anywhere without the team spirit that Mulgowie has.

"I think we also have a long term strategy with sustainability and being able to farm for generations to come, and to deliver healthy, fresh vegetables for our customers for generations to come."
