Footage has emerged of a police car losing control and veering onto a roundabout on the Gold Coast on Saturday, prompting two hooning drivers to show off their drifting skills in front of the vehicle.
Posted to Facebook on Sunday, the video showed a marked police car that was responding to priority job travelling on Hope Island Rd at Hope Island around 4.30pm.
The police car lost traction on the wet road when entering a roundabout and was driven on to the grass.
In a second video, two cars were then spotted drifting within metres of the stranded vehicle.
The two videos have since gained more than 9000 likes collectively on Facebook, and have attracted a mixed bag of comments about the crash.
“Good old Hope Island roundabout,” one person commented.
“No skid marks behind the police car obviously got caught in there in the rain. Meanwhile, two losers are sliding old trash cans around on public roads, treating them like a playground. Grow up,” a second user said.
While others mentioned the two other drivers hooning around the police vehicle.
“Gotta show the coppas how to drive around the round(about),” one person wrote.
“Copper needs to learn to drive to the conditions those boys had more control drifting around the cop that ran out of talent,” another user said.
The Queensland Police Service confirmed investigations were ongoing into the incident.
No one was injured and the vehicle sustained only minor damage.
