Home destroyed as ferocious blaze engulfs property north of Brisbane

A raging fire has destroyed a home in Moreton Bay, with two residents escaping with minor burns to their hands.

A home has been destroyed after a ferocious fire broke out north of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to the fire about 11.30am at Joora Avenue, Petrie.

At the height of the fire, seven crews worked to extinguish it.

Two people self extricated and were assessed by paramedics with minor burns to their hands.

The fire was extinguished by about 12pm.

Video of the blaze showed flames and smoke billowing from the property.

Fire investigators will return to the home later in the day to work out how it started.
