The drive from Imbil to Borumba Dam will take a little longer after an announcement from Transport and Main Roads.
Drivers on Yabba Creek Rd at Imbil will have its speed limit cut from 90km/h to 80km/h in the name of safety.
TMR announced Tuesday the new speed limit for the stretch between Mitchell Creek Rd and the Yabba Creek Rd No. 6 River Crossing bridge following a review by authorities.
The drop will improve road safety for drivers, a TMR spokesman said in the statement.
The committee included representatives from the Queensland Police Service, Gympie Regional Council and TMR and considered a range of factors such as road function, roadside environment, road construction standards, prevailing traffic speeds and crash history, the spokesman said.
