Gympie region residents, particularly between Tamaree and Amamoor, have been told to avoid smoke in the area from a controlled burn on Saturday afternoon.
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service issued the warning at 3:30pm on Saturday (August 7).

“Smoke is currently affecting suburbs between Tamaree and Amamoor, near Gympie. This is a hazard reduction burn,” QFES sources said.
What you should do:
– Follow health guidance and monitor live air quality information by clicking the smoke information link below.
– Avoid driving through smoke where possible and be aware of firefighters working in the area.
– Stay indoors, and close windows and doors.
– Keep respiratory medication close by.
