PHOTOS: Two men flown to Royal Brisbane Hospital from serious Goomeri crash

Two men have been airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital following a serious crash near Goomeri this morning.

UPDATE

Photos have emerged from the scene of a serious car crash at Goomeri this morning, where two men needed to be airlifted to hospital with severe injuries.

It‘s believed one of the men was driving along the Burnett Highway when he lost control of his car and crashed.

The rescue chopper was called to the scene at about 8am and the pilot was able to land the aircraft near the scene.

An aeromedical crew worked alongside paramedics to stabilise the man, aged in his sixties, before he was flown in a stable condition to the Royal Brisbane and Women‘s Hospital.

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew was also sent to the scene, and they airlifted a second man - aged in his 50s and a passenger in the car - to the same hospital.

He suffered a suspected spinal injury and was transported in stable condition.


EARLIER

Two men have been airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, one in a serious but stable condition, following a serious single vehicle crash on the Burnett Highway at Goomeri at 7:53am on Friday.

A man in his 50s was airlifted with serious head, back and chest injuries, with a second patient, a man in his 60s, also airlifted in a stable condition.

A spokesperson for Queensland Ambulance said the man in his 60s suffered chest and back pain.

“The vehicle drove off the road and smoke was seen coming out of the car,” emergency services reported following the crash.

A Forensic Crash Unit is at the scene.
