Teewah Beach hoon crackdown

Police will continue to be out in force from this Friday targeting beach hooning between Noosa North Shore, Teewah Beach and the Cooloola Coast as visitors from Brisbane take advantage of the long weekend.

It follows on from the commencement of Operation Sandstorm in 2020, incorporating increased beachside patrols and enforcement activity at the popular tourist spots.

Last weekend 89 Traffic Infringement Notices were issued as campers continued to engage in risk taking behaviour with their vehicles on the beach.

A 23-year-old East Deep Creek man stopped at Teewah on October 23 was charged with drink driving and fined over $800 for allegedly speeding, driving a defective vehicle and having an unsecured load.

He returned a Blood Alcohol Concentration 0.160% and was issued with a Notice To Appear in Noosa Magistrates Court on November 11.

Five people were charged with drug driving and two people found to be in possession of dangerous drugs.

This coming long weekend Queensland Police along with rangers from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will be out in force targeting a range of driving related offences to ensure the ongoing safety of beach visitors.
