Sunshine Coast man pleads guilty in Gympie court to child exploitation charges

A businessman, well known across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie has pleaded guilty eight child exploitation charges as other serious allegations are revealed.

A 32-year-old Sunshine Coast man and Gympie business owner has pleaded guilty to using, making and sharing child exploitation material.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will front Gympie District Court next month on 11 charges, including distributing child exploitation material, possessing child exploitation material, using a carriage service to access child exploitation material, using a carriage service to distribute child exploitation material, four charges of producing child exploitation material, two charges of indecent treatment of a child under 16, under 12 and in his care, and breach of bail.

The court was closed throughout his appearance on Wednesday.

He pleaded guilty to the eight child exploitation material charges and breaching his bail, but did not enter a plea for the two indecent treatment charges.

He was fined $200 for the bail breach and is scheduled to appear in Gympie District Court at the next sittings on July 18, 2022.
