Toogoom man charged with drug driving over Bruce Hwy crash at Curra
The driver of a four-wheel-drive that collided head-on with another vehicle north of Gympie and closed the Bruce Hwy for hours has been charged by police.

A 39-year-old Toogoom man has been charged following a horror head-on between two 4WDs on the Bruce Hwy at Curra, which left a man trapped in the wreckage and seriously injured.
Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash, near the highway’s intersection with Harvey Siding Rd about 10.02pm on Wednesday after the northbound Toyota LandCruiser collided with a Jeep headed in the opposite direction.
The driver of the LandCruiser, a 28-year-old from Mulambin, near Rockhampton, suffered a “significant” throat injury and had to be cut free by fireys.
He was then flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.
The 39-year-old Jeep driver suffered a shoulder injury and was taken by ambulance to Gympie Hospital.
Police said on Friday he had been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.
The 39-year-old is scheduled to appear in Maryborough Magistrates Court on April 29.
The Bruce Hwy was cut for several hours following the crash.
