Police hunt man after armed robbery at Gympie shop, cafe

Police are hunting for an armed robber who held up a Gympie shop and cafe by allegedly threatening staff with a gun.

Police are hunting for an armed robber who held up a Gympie shop and cafe by allegedly threatening staff with a gun before fleeing the scene.

In a media statement Tuesday police alleged the man entered the cafe and convenience store on Crescent Rd at 5.40pm on Monday June 23, and presented what appeared to be a firearm concealed in his waistband.

No one was injured during the incident and the man fled on foot along George St, police said.

The man was described as caucasian, approximately 170cm tall, wearing a black or grey jumper, long dark pants, khaki green cap, gloves, and white, grey, and black shoes.

He was also carrying a black backpack, police reported.

Officers have urged anyone with information or dashcam vision of the area between 5.30pm and 6pm on June 23 to contact police.
