Man charged with grievous bodily harm over alleged Gympie street assault
A 21-year-old man has been charged over an alleged assault that left another man with a traumatic brain injury.
A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a 40-year-old man was left with a traumatic brain injury as a result of an alleged assault in Gympie.
Detectives from Gympie Criminal Investigation Branch are appealing to the public for information in relation to the incident on November 21, 2025.
About 11.20pm on Friday night, police allege a 40-year-old male suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of an unprovoked assault on Mary Street, near Memorial Lane.
Detectives from Gympie CIB have charged a 21-year-old Gympie man with grievous bodily harm in relation to the incident.
He is due to next appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on February 23, 2026.
Police are seeking any witnesses, including a number of persons who are believed to have rendered assistance to the victim, to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
