It can be revealed for the first time the name of the man charged with causing a devastating crash on the Bruce Hwy that claimed the life of a beloved Sunshine Coast woman four days before Christmas.

The charges against a man following a horror accident on the Bruce Highway north of Gympie in 2023 that claimed the life of Sunshine Coast woman Cassandra Reilly were mentioned in a Fraser Coast court on Monday.
Kyle James Richardson was charged with driving uninsured, driving unlicensed, driving unregistered, and dangerous driving causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance in the wake of the crash at Kanigan on December 21, 2023.
Those charges were mentioned before Maryborough Magistrates Court on July 15, 2024.
Sunshine Coast woman Cassandra Reilly was killed in the crash.
Ms Reilly lived in the township of Reeseville, near Maleny in the Mary Valley, and it is understood she had family in Maryborough.
She had been working at a popular Caloundra cafe the Pastry Lab at the time of her tragic death.
In a statement, the Pastry Lab said their colleague was more like family and their hearts were “extremely heavy without her here”.
The matter was adjourned until September 2, 2024.
