A 28-year-old Chatsworth mother has lost her licence for a year after she crashed her car while more than five times the legal limit.

Tailor Louise Kate Wood recorded a BAC of .262 in a blood test after she wrecked her car while driving along Fritz Road about 10.30pm on March 22.

Gympie’s police prosecutor told the Magistrates Court the last thing Wood remembered “was drinking at a friend’s place that afternoon”.

Wood’s lawyer told the court her client had been in the midst of a horrible week, which included losing a job she had held for several years and dealing with mental health problems.

However, she said this was “no excuse” for her actions.

Wood was fined $1500 and disqualified from driving for a year.

Magistrate Kurt Fowler accepted Wood’s guilty plea to the drink driving charge.

However he had some grim advice for the 28-year-old given her prior history of drink driving and the “disturbingly high” reading this time.

“If you don’t obtain assistance and this continues, either you won’t be with us or a prosecutor will be standing up and making a statement about imprisonment,” Mr Fowler said.

He disqualified her from driving for a year and fined her $1500.
