Two people were taken to hospital following a two car crash at a notorious Gympie intersection on Thursday morning that threw One Mile State School traffic into chaos.
Emergency crews rushed to the intersection of Brisbane Rd and Graham St, near Pengelly’s Bridge shortly before 8.30am following reports the vehicles had collided.
The force of the impact was enough to set airbags off in the vehicles, with left partially blocking Brisbane Rd and spilling fluid across the asphalt.
Traffic was diverted around the scene as paramedics treated driver of one vehicle while they were still behind the wheel.
Police said the second vehicle drove into a nearby shop’s carpark and hit a rock.
A Queensland Ambulance Spokesman said a man suffered a chest injury in the crash, and a second person, of unidentified age or gender, was treated for leg and arm injuries.
They were each taken to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition.
