A Gold Coast couple originally from New Zealand were holidaying for their wedding anniversary in the seaside town of Rainbow Beach in March of this year when they fell in love with the town and the community spirit.

Nikki and Aaron Holder soon noticed the absence of a male barber and decided to take it upon themselves to keep the men and boys of Rainbow Beach looking sharp.

“After owner operating a barbershop on the Gold Coast for the past nine years with the increasing traffic congestions, we decided to take advantage of high property prices and sold our house in April and bought a home in Cooloola Cove,” Mr Holder said.

The property they bought for $680,000 broke a record for Cooloola Cove, obliterating the previous record price set for a similar property in that suburb.

The couple passed their Gold Coast Barber on to their daughter and set up shop in Rainbow Beach, throwing open the doors in June of this year.

“The local support has been absolutely amazing, people are very happy to finally have their own barber shop in the town,” Mr Holder said.

“It’s a place to get a high quality cut at everyday reasonable prices, have a great chat, listen to some good music and leave very happy with the overall service.”
