Inspirational Rainbow Beach teen Tristan Sik continues to go from strength to strength, both in his recovery from a life-changing accident in 2017 and his fledgling Sik Ladz clothing line.

The 17-year-old Year 12 student launched the Sik Ladz Clothing Co. in April, almost four years on from suffering a severe brain injury after being knocked off his pushbike in a car crash.

Tristan broke his leg, hip and collarbone in the accident, and suffered six fractures to his skull despite the fact that he was wearing his helmet when he was struck by the car.

But the Victory College senior has let nothing stand in his way, and is now using his increasingly popular Sik Ladz brand to forge a pathway for himself post-graduation and share a truly heartwarming message: “Make your dayz count”.

Tristan’s mum Carolyn Elder said Tristan had been the driving force behind Sik Ladz since the idea first came about when he ran into difficulties during an apprenticeship with the family business.

“We’re ordering as we sell stock, he’s got trucker caps and baseball caps going in, we’re about to do an order on beanies,” Mrs Elder said.

“We’re looking at a men’s trunk line, he’s got some 4WD designs coming out. We’ve also just ordered a Sik Ladz design gazebo, and he’s going to start selling them at the local markets.

“We’re aiming for the Rainbow Beach markets next weekend to be his first one, since he’s a Rainbow boy.

“Then he’s got his own tagline, ‘Make your dayz count’.

“He’s doing a lot of things, and getting a lot of support on Facebook. He’s super excited.”

Mrs Elder said Sik Ladz had opened a new avenue for Tristan as he approaches graduation and beyond.

“He’s really interested in it. A lot of people are really liking the brand and the ‘Make your dayz count’ tagline, we often find once people hear Trist’s story they want to support him,” she said.

“Every night as he gets neurofatigue, he’ll yell out ‘Mum, have we got any orders?’ This week alone we’ve sent out about 20 orders.”
