Inskip Point burns accident leaves camper with serious injuries

There were dramatic scenes at the popular tourist spot after a man with serious injuries was flown to hospital. It comes as emergency services were called to several other incidents around the region overnight. Here is what we know:

Burns victim’s incredible transformation 10 years on

A man in his 20s has been airlifted to hospital in Brisbane with serious burns after an incident at an Inskip Point campsite on Friday night.

Paramedics were called to the scene off Inskip Point Rd at 9.54pm to reports the camper had suffered serious burns to his neck, chest and arms.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the man was reportedly trying to practice fire breathing by blowing an accelerant through flames.

A rescue helicopter was called to the scene and the camper was airlifted in a serious but stable condition to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

It comes as emergency services were called to two other crashes in the Gympie region overnight.

The spokesperson said emergency services were called to Lake Borumba at 9.43pm to reports of a single car rollover on Yabba Creek Rd.

A teenage male was taken to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition with complaints of neck pain.

Later, emergency services were called to Bells Bridge at 12.14am to reports a motorcycle crash on the Bruce Hwy and Wide Bay Hwy.

A man in his 50 was taken to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition.
