“It’s a bit awkward receiving these votes as I believe we are all so different and unique. To me there is no “best” but more best-suited to what outcome is needed.”

Popular Gympie photographer and mum Tracey Devereaux has heaped praise on her contemporaries after being voted the “best” snapper in the region by Gympie Times readers this week.
Tracey finished on top of the reader poll with 24 per cent of the final vote, just ahead of well-renowned shooter Leeroy Todd with 15 per cent.
EeVee Photography was not far behind with 9 per cent, and Mimi Hammer rounded out the top four with 6 per cent.
The very humble victor said it was an “awkward” feeling to win the vote.
“It’s a bit awkward receiving these votes as I believe we are all so different and unique. To me there is no “best” but more best-suited to what outcome is needed,” Tracey said.
“Not only are there different areas in the industry to focus on – families, weddings, business, real estate, animals, teens, babies, boudoir, outdoor, studio – but everyone has their own style of shooting and editing.”
With nearly 5,500 followers on her Facebook page, Tracey’s specialty is described as “capturing natural smiles and getting giggles out of even the most shy little ones”.
Tracey said the Gympie region was fortunate to have such a depth of talented photographers with boots on the ground.
“Gympie is extremely lucky to have such a wide range of passionate photographers from newbies to seasoned shooters. I would encourage anyone thinking about photography to pick up their camera and venture out and start.”
