A healthy turnout, delicious eats and rocking tunes had plenty in the mood to celebrate at the 2021 Near North Coast Regional sub chamber Gala Dinner at the Gympie Showgrounds Pavilion on Saturday night (June 27).
Co-hosted by husband and wife duo Brendan and Jody Allen and featuring catering from Eat at Candy’s and music from The RocknRollabillys, the dinner commemorated the region’s entrants competing for the titles of Near North Coast Showgirl and Rural Ambassador, respectively.

Maleny Showgirl Chloe Lanham was voted the winner and will represent the Near North Coast region at the state finals at this year’s EKKA, due to go ahead in August.
Fraser Coast Showgirl Tahlia Robinson placed second, followed by Gympie Showgirl Jazmin Farrow and Sunshine Coast Showgirl Cortney Claridge.
The Gympie Show Society’s own Emily Larkin was the sole Rural Ambassador finalist, and was thus elected to the post unopposed.

The esteemed judging panel was made up of Qld country life Miss Showgirl for 2019 Clare Stark, Qld Next Generation committee vice president Adam Tokely and Qld Ag Shows junior vice president Lucy Connolly.
Near North Coast sub chamber president Rowan O’Hara and 2021 Gympie Citizen of the Year Deb Brown were among the speakers.
