Three fire crews were among the emergency services who rushed to the scene of a late night crash on the D’Aguilar Highway on Sunday which left a young man with critical injuries.

A man was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital on Sunday night after the car he was driving crashed into a tree on the D’Aguilar Hwy and burst into flames.
Emergency crews rushed to the stretch of highway near Funkners Lane, 6km west of Kilcoy after calls a car had crashed into a tree and caught fire at about 9.20pm.

The man, aged in his 20s, and possibly driving what police suspect was a stolen car, suffered critical head, chest and leg injuries.
The highway was closed for about two hours, as three fire crews battled the blaze, extinguishing it and ensuring the area surrounding it remained safe.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
