Gympie Eisteddfod showcases school concert bands

Brass, percussion, and woodwind instruments filled the Gympie Pavilion with concert songs, as school concert bands from across the region and beyond dazzled with their musical talent - one school even playing the Star Wars theme song. See the photos:

The 2023 Gympie Eisteddfod was in full swing on Monday, with schools from around the region tuning their brass, wind and percussion instruments as they prepared to play before the adjudicator.

Day four of the Eisteddfod was all about music, with the concert bands, Year 12 and under, and the primary school bands coming out for the day to show their skills off on the stage.

Adjudicator Alisa Jones said she was impressed with the work of the primary school concert bands, with a difference of only one point between the school bands.

Cooloola Christian College Concert Band ended the morning with the Star Wars theme song, however, despite their efforts and the tough competition, did not manage to place.

Tin Can Bay State Primary School Concert band took first place for primary schools, while James Nash State High Concert Band took first place for the division of Year 12 and under.

It was a day to nurture the musical talent of the region and share and learn from each other, in a city that is often dubbed the ‘Nashville’ of Queensland.
