IF you have gone to the bowsers to fill up on fuel and thought the prices were a little steep, you weren't wrong.

The RACQ has given petrol operators in Gladstone the thumbs down today, saying prices in the region are unfair.

On average, unleaded petrol is going for 127.8 cents per litre while diesel is at 126.3c a litre.

Unfortunately, if you're petrol price hunter, you will probably have to travel too far to get cheaper prices.

In Biloela, Blackwater and Bundaberg the price of diesel is 122.9, 119.9 and 123.2, respectively.

In January and March the price of diesel in Gladstone hit as low as 98.9c a litre.
