A Central Queensland woman who stole at a Woolworths self-serve checkout on consecutive days has been brought to justice two years after she committed the crimes.
Alice Selene Deanna Nona, 27, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrate’s Court on January 30 to two counts of stealing.
The court heard that Nona targeted Woolworths Kin Kora (Gladstone) on December 10 and 11, 2022.
On the first occasion she put “multiple items” into a trolley and went to a self-serve checkout where she scanned only some of the items and then left without paying for the rest.
The court was told that Nona did the same thing at the same store the next day.
It also heard that Nona had a four-page criminal history and she had previously been convicted in both Mackay and Gladstone magistrates courts in 2020 for stealing.
Solicitor Bianca Wieland said Nona was an unemployed single mother of three.
Ms Wieland noted the police facts did not indicate what items were stolen or their value.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Nona $700 and a conviction was recorded.
