A woman with a history of public nuisance offending has faced court for her latest outburst - this time at Gladstone Hospital.

Susan Gaye Jones, 59, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 27 to conduct causing a public nuisance.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Kevin Ongheen said about 12.45pm on January 3, police went to an incident involving Jones and she was taken to Gladstone Hospital under an emergency examination authority.

Sgt Ongheen said Jones, while inside the hospital where members of the public were present, was yelling and swearing and police asked her to stop.

Jones continued to yell and swear and police gave her a warning that she was causing a public nuisance.

Sgt Ongheen said Jones stopped “for a short period” before she started up again, yelling words such as “f---ing, f--- you, f--- off” in her sentences.

“Police saw that doctors, nurses and patients were visibly uncomfortable because of (Jones’s) behaviour,” Sgt Ongheen said.

The court heard Jones later attended a police station and when questioned, she told police she was suffering from “severe anxiety from past family issues.”

Sgt Ongheen said Jones admitted her behaviour at the hospital was not acceptable and her criminal history included previous public nuisance offending.

Solicitor Caitlin Dee said on the day of the incident, Jones was at the motel she was staying in when there was a disturbance.

Ms Dee said an ambulance was called but it could not come.

“So a police car turned up, causing (Jones) undefined amounts of stress,” Ms Dee said.

“Then she was taken to the hospital.”

Ms Dee said Jones then called her mother in a “state of panic” and they started swearing on the phone to each other.

“The comments made snowballed - it wasn’t directed... at hospital staff.

“She’s totally remorseful for the commotion she’s caused.”

Ms Dee said Jones was now homeless and she had a support person in court with her.

Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Jones $150 and a conviction was recorded.
