A Central Queensland woman who threatened to kill a Department of Housing staffer also exposed herself in public and threw punches at police, a court has heard.
Maxine Victoria Frescon, 55, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to charges including using a carriage service to make a threat to kill, committing an indecent act in any place with intent to insult or offend, obstructing police, assaulting police, and public nuisance.
The court heard the most serious offence happened on October 23 last year when Frescon phoned the Department of Housing and while speaking to a staffer there, threatened to kill her.
When questioned by police, Frescon said she knew she shouldn’t have said what she did and was apologetic.
The court heard during a separate incident on December 5, Frescon “flashed her bare breasts” at a Gladstone resident and when police arrived, she continued to yell and swear.
As police tried to arrest her, she threw punches, the court was told.
Frescon had a nine-page criminal history which included a previous using a carriage service offence.
Solicitor Bianca Wieland said Frescon, born at Gin Gin and raised in Bundaberg, was a mother and grandmother who had “quite significant factors in mitigation.”
Ms Wieland said last year, Frescon’s daughter passed in very traumatic circumstances and at the time of the offending, Frescon was “struggling” with the Department of Housing and “essentially being kicked out” of her home.
Ms Wieland said also at the time, Frescon was talking to the Department in a bid to get her daughter’s belongings back which was very traumatic for her.
The solicitor said since Frescon lost her home, she had been living in a car.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan sentenced Frescon to three months’ jail with immediate parole, and placed her on a 12-month good behaviour order with a $500 recognisance.
Frescon was also placed on 12 months’ probation with conditions.
Convictions were recorded.
