A man has been charged and denied police bail following an alleged violent robbery on Thursday morning.
Police have charged a 28-year-old man with assaulting a 58-year-old Gladstone Central man who was waiting for a taxi on Roseberry St.
Police have further alleged the 28-year-old stole the stranger’s backpack and wallet.
The 58-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Gladstone Hospital where he was discharged on Thursday night.
Police executed a search warrant in Gladstone Central on Thursday night where they found and arrested the 28-year-old.
He was charged with one count of robbery with violence, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possess property suspected of having been used in connection with a drug offence.
He is expected to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Friday, June 14.
