Six drug offenders faced Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to various drug offences. Here’s what happened in court.

Six drug offenders faced Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to various offences which included dangerous drug and utensil possession.

A Gladstone woman denied she had taken illicit drugs after a drug test returned a positive result, a court head.

Cherie Elizabeth Phillips, 49, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Bevan Manthey to drug driving.

On October 15, around 12.50pm, police intercepted Phillips driving on Coronation Drive, Tannum Sands for a roadside drug test.

The roadside test returned a positive indication and she was taken to Tannum Sands police station for further questioning.

During questioning, Phillips denied taking any illicit drugs and could offer no lawful or emergency reason for driving the car.

At 1.25pm results from Phillips’ second test returned another positive result and she was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court and served a 24-hour driving suspension.

Police lab checks indicated the drug in Phillips’ system at the time she was driving was marijuana.

Phillips was convicted and fined $800 and suspended from driving for three months.

A conviction was recorded.

Delone Streeter, 19

A Gladstone man on a night out made admissions to a chaplain that he was in possession of a dangerous drug, a court heard.

Delone Streeter, 19, pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs.

A court heard police were conducting patrols of Gladstone’s safe night precinct on December 12, 2021 when they were flagged down on Goondoon Street by a chaplain.

Police spoke with the chaplains who provided information on a man who admitted to them he had drugs on him and wanted to confess to police.

Police located the man who identified himself as Streeter and submitted to a search.

Police located a capsule which contained a black substance and Streeter was subsequently transported to Gladstone police station.

Streeter made admissions to the capsule being MDMA and was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Manthey convicted and placed Streeter on a six month $200 recognisance and ordered he attended drug diversion classes. No conviction was recorded.

Matthew John Pascoe, 37

A Gladstone man who admitted to police he had not cleaned out his car “in a while” found himself in hot water after the latter found something illegal.

Matthew John Pascoe, 37, pleaded guilty to possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.

A court heard police intercepted Pascoe driving on Mercury Street in Telina at 12.20am on December 20, 2021.

Both Pascoe and his vehicle were detained for a search where police found a clip seal bag in the glove box of his car that had crystal residue.

Pascoe stated he used to use methamphetamine, however, had not done so in some time.

He also said no other person had been in the car and that he did not clean his car our regularly.

After police confirmed the clip seal bag was his and the crystal residue was methamphetamine, they served Pascoe a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Manthey convicted and fined Pascoe $100 and did not record a conviction.

Jason Burnhard Norling, 37

A Gladstone man tried to hide a small clip seal bag of cannabis from police after a car he was passenger in was intercepted.

A court heard on December 15, 2021, around 2.45am, police intercepted a car travelling on Margaret Street, South Gladstone of which Norling was a passenger of.

Norling was detained for a search as a result of a conversation with police.

A clip seal bag which contained 1.85 grams of marijuana was located sitting on a winch at the front of the car.

Norling was questioned regarding the property and initially denied knowledge of the item before stating he had placed it there when exiting the car at the start of the intercept.

He was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Norling was convicted and fined $200. A conviction was recorded.

Dat Cheung

A Gladstone man whose phone was searched during a police search warrant tried to execute the sale of laced gummy bear confectionery, a court heard.

Dat Cheung pleaded guilty to supplying dangerous drugs.

A court heard Gladstone police executed a search warrant on a Daniel Drive address in New Auckland at 9.35am on May 13.

During the search of the house police located a black mobile phone which belonged to Cheung which police seized as evidence.

An examination of the phone revealed a conversation between Cheung and a woman, with Cheung attempting to facilitate the sale of gummy bears laced with THC.

One of the messages from Cheung included “I’m not too sure (how much THC in one gummy) they taste weedy though”.

He was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Due to Cheung being sentenced for separate drug offending, and this offending being dated, Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted but did not further punish Cheung.

Marc Anthony Eggmolesse, 44

Marc Anthony Eggmolesse pleaded guilty to drug driving.

A court heard that at 3pm on November 21 police intercepted Eggmolesse driving a grey Toyota LandCruiser on Glenlyon Road, Glen Eden.

Eggmolesse’s roadside drug test returned a positive result and he was detained for further analysis.

When questioned, Eggmolesse made admissions to recently using illicit drugs and had no reason for driving.

Eggmolesse’s second test indicated the presence of a relevant drug and he was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Police laboratory checks revealed the drug in Eggmolesse’s saliva was marijuana.

Eggmolesse was convicted and fined $400 and suspended from driving for one month. A conviction was recorded.
