NEW residential building approvals in central Queensland have fallen by 38.8% in one month.

NEW residential building approvals in central Queensland have fallen by 38.8% in one month, with 258 in January compared to 158 in February, according to figures released by Master Builders.

Master Builders director of housing policy Paul Bidwell said while the figures had fallen for the first time in months, it was important to note they were falling from very high bases.

He said when looking at individual regions, variations in total dwelling approval figures needed to be put in perspective because they were only for one month.
