A second KFC restaurant has opened its doors in Gladstone, creating 59 new jobs.

The new KFC at 20 Ballantine St, Clinton, opened to customers on Wednesday.

It is the second for the fast food chain in the city itself, with the other located in West Gladstone, and another in Tannum Sands.

To celebrate, the KFC is hosting a grand opening on Saturday, September 21, where customers will have the chance to participate in a variety of events, including a chance to win KFC merchandise, vouchers, and more.

The fast food restaurant is led by restaurant general manager Aidan Hill, who started his career with KFC at 14 years old.

Madeleine Case and Shay-Lee Leotta will take on the role of assistant restaurant manager, having both been with KFC for more than 10 years.

“The KFC Clinton team is delighted to welcome local KFC fans who can now get their hands on the Colonel’s delicious Kentucky Fried Chicken,” Mr Hill said.

“For locals who want to get their hands on the Colonel’s fried gold from the comfort of their home, delivery will also be available.”

Mr Hill said they were “thrilled to welcome 59 new team members into the KFC family, providing a significant number of jobs to the local area”.

“We’re passionate about building a strong and confident team to ensure we provide both the best customer service possible and quality Kentucky Fried Chicken to the people of Clinton,” he said.

“Our culture fosters the growth and development of our people by providing opportunities that help them gain lifelong skills, confidence and friends.

“We’re looking forward to watching our new team members reach their potential.”

KFC Clinton will be open daily from 10am to 10pm.

The new KFC is at the Ballantine St site where where Gladstone Village Motor Inn, a 26 room single-storey motel, was demolished.

Plans were submitted to Gladstone Regional Council in March 2022 for Collins Property Development for the mixed-use development and approved in July 2023.

Prostitute Shuxia Yuan was murdered by James William Glenn at the motel in 2010, with Glenn found guilty in a trial in 2013.
