Central Queensland barber and business owner Miguel Krzywdzinski closes Groom Barbershop Gladstone

“I don’t want everyone thinking that we closed down because we hit financial trouble and went under... we were busy, it was just too much for me to juggle with family matters my main priority.”

A Gladstone region barbershop owner wants to set the record straight regarding his business’ closure.

Groom Barbershop owner Miguel Krzywdzinski said the decision to shut his Gladstone Central shop was purely situational and not due to financial hardship.

Having owned the franchise, which includes two stores in Rockhampton and one in Gladstone, for five years Mr Krzywdzinski said there was a multitude of factors which led to the tough decision. The Rockhampton stores are not impacted.

“My partner is having our first child in August and I just thought I should close the doors now and have one less thing to worry about,” he said.

“I don’t want everyone thinking that we closed down because we hit financial trouble and went under, we were busy, it was just too much for me to juggle with family matters my main priority.”

Mr Krzywdzinski said the qualified barber he employed in Gladstone had moved to Brisbane to pursue a hydroblasting career, which would have put further strain on his staff.

“Without him it would be kind of pointless just having an apprentice in store,” he said.

“The other option was moving a staff member from Rocky but that meant taking time and energy away from that store.”

Mr Krzywdzinski said the decision to shut up shop was made early last month then rolled out sporadically via social media platforms.

“It was cool to open up in Gladstone, I am a young dude and with the three shops I just like the opportunity to open a shop in a place I haven’t had much to do with,” he said.

“I don’t want everyone thinking that we closed down because we hit financial trouble and went under, we were busy, it was just too much for me to juggle with family matters my main priority.”
