A young woman driving her dad’s Dmax ute crashed into two stationary cars and a bus after failing to observe halted traffic.
Police were called to a multi-vehicle accident on Laidley-Plainland Road at 6.05pm on June 2, after Caitlyn Gayle Rackley, 20, drove into the rear of a stopped vehicle.
The crash caused the parked vehicle to “shunt forwards” into another vehicle towing a trailer that had come to a standstill behind a bus waiting to turn onto a side street.
In the Gatton Magistrates Court on June 28, the court heard Rackley, from Glamorgan Vale, had no recollection of the event and she was driving without a licence.
Police prosecutor Narelle Lowe said Rackley had about 150m to stop her car after exiting a roundabout.
“When questioned, she couldn’t really remember what happened and said she ‘obviously ran up the back of the other cars’,” Sergeant Lowe said.
Rackley’s car and the car she crashed immediately into were towed from the scene.
Rackley’s provisional licence was suspended for three months from March 31, due to demerit points and her licence expired on May 13.
Magistrate Peter Saggers told Rackley it was likely she would be liable for the damaged cars.
The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to one count each of driving without due care and attention and driving without a licence.
She was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for six months.
