Kaleb Gordon Jessup and Chelsea Ellen Jessup reappear in Gatton court for drug charges

The pair, aged 18 and 20, vowed to the court they had really given up the drugs this time.

Two young Gatton adults with previous drug convictions have had to face the magistrate for the second time in a matter of weeks.

Kaleb Gordon Jessup and Chelsea Ellen Jessup appeared individually in the Gatton Magistrates Court on June 21, after the house they share was raided by police.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Narelle Lowe told the court the Gatton home was searched on May 26 at 10.50am.

In Kaleb’s bedroom police found a bong and electric grinder.

Next to Chelsea’s bed police found a glass bowl containing marijuana.

Magistrate Graham Lee reminded Kaleb that he had been previously sentenced in April for drug-related matters, which included possessing a bong, controlled drugs and utensils.

“I got done with a bong as well (last time). Since I’ve got caught with this one, I have quit,” Kaleb said.

The 20-year-old, who is unemployed and on Centrelink payments, told the court he was looking for someone to give him a shot.

“There’s no work going around. I’ve been looking for work since getting kicked out of school,” Kaleb said.

Mr Lee also reminded Chelsea of her prior conviction from May 10, where she was busted for possessing drugs and utensils.

During that appearance in court, the 18-year-old declined participating in a drug diversion program because she wanted to go home.

“If you keep coming back, you’re going to get more than fines,” Mr Lee said.

“I am gonna, I have stopped,” she replied.

Chelsea pleaded guilty to one count of possessing dangerous drugs, while Kaleb pleaded guilty to possessing utensils.

They were each fined $350 each and no convictions were recorded.
