Two charged over Gatton pub fight, man fighting for his life

A 26-year-old man remains in a critical condition after he was allegedly assaulted at the Royal Hotel in Gatton, causing him to fall to the ground. Two men have been charged by police.

A 26-year-old man remains in a critical condition after he was allegedly assaulted at the Royal Hotel in Gatton on Sunday night, causing him to fall to the ground.

The man, who suffered serious head wounds, is fighting for his life in the Princess Alexandra Hospital’s intensive care unit.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics stabilised the man at the Railway Street address before transporting him by road to the Gatton Hospital.

He was later transferred by helicopter to the PA Hospital.

Detectives have charged two men over the alleged 11pm assault at the Railway Road venue.

Following investigations, Detectives from the Gatton Criminal Investigation Branch have arrested and charged two men.

A 35-year-old Gatton man has been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm and common assault.

A 49-year-old Gatton man has been charged with two counts of common assault and one count each of grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning bodily harm.

Both were refused police bail and are due to face Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday, September 5.
