Police remain on hunt for offender after shooting at Lockyer Valley property

Queensland Police are on the hunt for an unknown offender who allegedly shot a man on a regional Queensland property. UPDATE HERE.

Police are continuing investigations after a 31-year-old man was shot in the upper body at a regional home in the Lockyer Valley.

The offender fled the scene before police arrived, and their whereabouts remain unknown.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said police responded to reports of gunfire at a Plainland property, about 10 minutes from the Laidley township, before 6am on December 19.

It is understood the 31-year-old man was released from the Princess Alexandra Hospital later that day, after being transported in a stable condition.

“A crime scene has been declared following an unlawful wounding incident in Plainland this morning,” he said.

“Initial investigations indicate a 31-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body.

“The offender is believed to have fled shortly before police arrived.”

Hours after the shooting, a neighbour of the man told NewsCorp she felt less safe and was now considering installing CCTV at her property.

She said she woke to “quite a few cop cars”, three ambulances and a fire truck heading down Bushland St at around 6am.

She said that police left the area about 8am.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man was in a stable condition when he was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital via ambulance.

The police spokesman said anyone with information to assist investigations, including any CCTV or dashcam footage in the area at the time, is urged to contact police.
