A man is lucky to be alive after rolling his car on the Warrego Highway this morning.

The man was driving around 10am in the eastbound lane at Hatton Vale just past the roadworks at Rusty's when he lost control.

Gatton officer-in-charge senior sergeant Tom Missingham said the man veered over the median strip and rolled several times before landing in the westbound lane, miraculously avoiding traffic coming in the opposite direction.

Snr Sgt Missingham said the man was taken to hospital with concussion. There was no one else involved in the accident which caused chaos and delays in the westbound lane for at least 30 minutes.

Early reports that the vehicle caught fire were unfounded.

A local witness said it was the latest in a line of dangerous incidents in that stretch of road.
