The time has come for the Lockyer Valley to crown the region’s cutest baby of 2024.

The Lockyer Valley is home to dozens of adorable bubs who were born in the past year, making it tough for loved ones to crown the cutest.

After careful review we can reveal there are two winners in 2024, having both tied for first place.

One-year-old Levi and nine-month-old Huxley share the Lockyer Valley’s cutest baby crown, their win coming as no surprise to their loved ones.

Huxley’s mother Nikita Jaenke will always cherish the moment she first held her baby boy in her arms.

“When I first held Huxley it was one of the best things I’ve ever felt. Due to him needing special care I wasn’t able to hold straight away,” she said.

“He was already three days old before I got to hold him for the first time.”

Ms Jaenke said although Huxley is her firstborn child, she hopes to give him a sibling or two in the future.

The playful one-year-old has taken a different approach to riding his trike, having developed a fascination for anything that spins.

“He turns his trike upside down and plays with the wheels instead of riding it. I love playing with him everyday,” Ms Jaenke said.

Being a first time mum has had its challenges for Ms Jaenke, whose advice to new or expecting mothers is to take things day by day.

“The biggest learning curve I’ve had to face is going back to work full-time so sudden, Huxley was only four months old when I started nightshift full time,” she said.

“My advice to new mums and expecting mums would be to take it day by day. You might think you’re doing a bad job but that baby loves you more than anything and you’re actually doing brilliantly.”

Levi’s mother Teyah Salmon and her partner were well aware they were having a little boy, although they never expected to welcome a 4.14kg baby.

“We had a rollercoaster of an afternoon and once he arrived, all the worries just disappeared,” she said.

“I had my partner by my side and we were absolutely smitten (but also shocked) with our not so little man.”

While he is an only child, Levi does have two fur siblings, cats Leo and Luna.

Ms Salmon said their favourite activity together is their weekly swimming lessons on Saturdays.

“He splashes the whole time with a huge smile on his face,” she said.

The young mum encourages other first time parents to keep in mind that every child will reach their milestones at different times.

“My advice is to not compare your baby to another. Every child is so different and their milestones happen at different times,” she said.

“I learnt that Levi will figure things out in his own time.”
