A toddler’s cheeky grin, his love of exploring and his capacity for pure and unconditional love has been remembered at a heartbreaking funeral service in Hervey Bay.

Arlo Wyse died on February 17 aged 21 months.

A funeral notice for the toddler said he had been “tragically taken”.

Surrounded by balloons in a little blue coffin covered in Bluey stickers, family and friends said goodbye to the little boy who touched their lives.

Bubbles poured over the coffin during the service as those who loved him shared their memories.

Parents Jayden and Amy paid tribute to their beautiful boy with Amy recalling his birth at Hervey Bay Hospital, sharing how he was a loving son, cherished grandson and adored nephew.

“The first time we laid eyes on you, you melted our hearts.”

She said he had loved food and wasn’t fussy, but had a particular love for Cheezels, having one on every finger when he had the chance.

Arlo was remembered as a curious, growing boy with a love of adventure. He loved exploring and kept his mum and dad on their toes.

From getting into vegemite jars to filling the toilet with toilet rolls, through tears Amy remembered the mischief her little boy got up to during his short life.

Even mundane tasks like shopping had been adventures with Arlo by her side, Amy remembered.

Arlo loved going on the kid’s rides at the shopping centre and helping his mum by filling the trolley.

“I’m forever grateful for the joy and happiness you brought into our lives,” she said.

Dad Jayden said welcoming his son was the “most pure form of love I’ve ever experienced”.

He shared a precious memory of watching shooting stars in the backyard with Arlo.

“Everything about you was so utterly perfect,” he said.

“I couldn’t even put into words how much you mean to me.”

Arlo’s grandmother Cassie McKenzie said Arlo’s love had been pure and unconditional.

She remembered Jayden calling her after he was born saying “he’s so beautiful mum, he’s so beautiful”.

Cassie remembered helping to give Arlo a bath and how tiny he was when he was first born.

“I’ll forever cherish watching you grow up,” she said.

Cassie said she would miss her grandson’s smile.

A photo tribute then played to the sounds of the Lion King’s Hakuna Matata.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help support the family through the tragedy.

Set up by Marilyn Strawbridge, the fundraiser has so far reached more than $1800.
