It’s the first weekend of May so why not ring in the new month by going to one of the these events on the Fraser Coast?

There’s plenty to see and do around the region this weekend.

Saturday May 1

Urangan Pier Markets

What: Urangan Pier Markets run every Saturday at the Urangan Pier with food, groceries, art and so many other items up for sale in a community atmosphere.

Where: Urangan Pier, Pier Street Urangan.

When: 7am to 1pm

Cost: Free entry

Torquay Markets

What: Enjoy the weekly Torquay markets along the Esplanade in Hervey Bay.

Where: Bill Fraser Park, Charlton Esplanade, Torquay

When: 7am to 1pm

Maryborough State High School 140th Anniversary

What: Maryborough State High School is celebrating the school’s 140th anniversary since its founding in 1881 with music, art displays, time capsules, art displays and photo opportunities throughout the day.

Where: Maryborough State High School, Kent Street Maryborough

When: 10am to 2pm

Sunday May 2

Nikenbah Markets

What: This Sunday marks the first Nikenbah Markets for May and visitors will be able to buy a fresh food, clothing, gifts and much more.

Where: Hervey Bay Animal Refuge, Nikenbah-Dundowran Road, Nikenbah

When: 6am to 12pm
Cost: Free Entry

Susan River Gel Ball Open Day

What: Susan River Gel Ball is hosting their 63rd gel ball skirmish open day this Sunday

Where: Susan River Gel Ball, Noble Road, Susan River

When: 9am to 3pm

Wide Bay Rodders Show and Shine

What: Hot rods, classic cars, Australian and American muscle cars and vintage motorcycles will be on show at Wide Bay Rodders Show and Shine this Sunday.

Where: Ralph Stafford Park, Seagulls Rugby League Oval, 187 Bideford Street, Torquay

When: Gates open 9am

Cost: $5 entry per person, $20 for a family

Gatakers Artspace

What: This weekend is the last chance Fraser Coast residents will have to seen the latest exhibitions at Gatakers Artspace in Maryborough, with art created by local community groups

Where: Gatakers Artspace, 311 Kent Street, Maryborough

When: 9:30am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday
