The Wide Bay region’s three vaccination hubs at Maryborough, Hervey Bay and Bundaberg have vaccinated at total of 5400 people since opening in May.

In Maryborough, 1538 people have been vaccinated, while at the Hervey Bay hub 1935 have got the jab and 1927 at the Bundaberg hub.

Across the Wide Bay region, including the hubs, there have been 6228 vaccinations administered altogether.

A spokesman for Wide Bay Hospital and Health service thanked the community for their support of the vaccination hubs and patience as they prioritised those most in need.

“Our community hubs and outreach clinics initially focused on the 1a and 1b groups – who consist of our critical and frontline workers and have extended supply to people in the 2a group aged 40 and over,” the spokesman said.

“We do encourage people to register their interest in a booking at the Australian Government’s Vaccine Eligibility Checker. At the checker you will answer questions and if you’re eligible for an appointment it will enable you to register. You can also call the booking hotline on 134COVID.”

The spokesman said opening times for the vaccination hubs change as vaccination teams operate outreach clinics in smaller towns and other sites.

“This should not cause inconvenience as people should be registered and have a confirmed booking time, but people can also check the website for opening hours,” the spokesman said.

“Bookings are important to ensure people are seen in a timely manner. Walk ins will only be facilitated if there is a space around existing bookings – people can expect wait times and if there is no space, people will be turned away.”

The week’s times for the vaccinations hubs are:

Maryborough at Maryborough City Hall, Kent Street: Friday, 4 June: 8am – 4pm.

Bundaberg at Tafe Queensland, Bundaberg, 118 Walker St: 4 June: 8am – 4pm.
