Two women have been rescued from a sinking houseboat at Tuan on New Year’s Eve.

The incident happened about 7.40pm on Tuesday, with emergency crews called to the scene at Big Tuan Creek where the houseboat was semi submerged.

Two women and two dogs were on board the sinking vessel and were assisted by swift water rescue, being brought to shore about 9pm where they were assessed by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics.

The two women had no injuries and declined transport to hospital.

It comes after three campers had to be rescued from a flooded campsite at Toogoom on New Year’s Eve.

Four crews from the Queensland Fire Department were sent to the scene about 4.20am, a spokeswoman said.

Three people had become stranded at a camping site near Oregan Creek Rd.

The spokeswoman said the swiftwater rescue vessel, a motorised boat, had to cross two swollen creeks, which amounted to 50m of waters, to reach the people at the campsite.

The boat first rescued two of the people and then went back for the third, she said.

It took first responders an hour to bring everyone to safety.
