A teen who allegedly pointed a fake gun at drivers on a beach is one of 11 children charged by police following a week-long crackdown on youth crime across the Wide Bay Burnett.

Police said Thursday 24 charges were laid as a result of Taskforce Guardian’s work with regional police from Monday, May 27 to Sunday, June 2.

The boy, a 17-year-old from Eli Waters, was charged with going armed as to cause fear, and two counts each of obstructing police and assaulting police over the incident which happened in July last year.

He is will appear in Hervey Bay Children’s Court on July 3.

Another 17-year-old, also from Eli Waters, was charged with entering a dwelling, receiving tainted property and unlawful use of a motor vehicle over an unrelated incident in which an Audi Q3 was allegedly stolen from a Bli Bli home between May 16 and 17.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Hervey Bay Children’s Court on June 19.

A 15-year-old Kawungan boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle in relation to the same incident and will appear at the children’s court on June 5.
