Police release shocking road vision after deadly month

Police officers using a speed detection device have caught a man travelling at more than twice the legal speed limit in Nikenbah.

The Hervey Bay man, 29, was busted on February 3 about 2.38pm travelling at 129km/h in a 60km/h zone on Chapel Road.

Maryborough Highway Patrol officer-in-charge Josh Churchward said he continued to be disappointed in road users putting lives at risk.

It could be an innocent road user, or your own friends and family sitting in your passenger seat, that bear the brunt of your choices when travelling at more than double the speed limit,” Sergeant Churchward said.

“Too many lives are needlessly lost each year due to drivers who think a serious crash can’t or won’t happen to them.”

Police will continue to be out in force targeting excessive speeding and other anti-social hooning behaviours at every opportunity, he said.
