November rain records have been smashed across the Wide Bay after a deluge hit the region last month.

Bundaberg received the highest rainfall total, with 406mm recorded, smashing the monthly average of 87mm.

It was the wettest November since 227mm fell in the city in 1974.

Maryborough was also inundated with rain, with 310mm recorded.

The city’s November average is 85mm.

The rainfall was the highest November total ever recorded in the city, where records date back more than 150 years.

In Hervey Bay, the record for the wettest November was also broken.

In total, 275mm was recorded, well above the monthly average of 73mm.

It broke the previous record of 134mm, set in 2017.

Meanwhile, Gympie had its wettest November since 1995.

In total, 181mm was recorded, beating the monthly average of 87mm.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Felim Hanniffy said the La Nina pattern was set to continue in December, bringing more wet weather to the region.

“That bodes well for above-average rainfall,” he said.

Mr Hanniffy said it was hard to predict whether there would be a wet Christmas three weeks out from the day, but at this stage it looked likely.
