Alana Martin was the healthiest she’d been in a long time and looking forward to the year ahead when her life was cut cruelly short - allegedly at the hands of her former partner.

Tributes are pouring in for the beloved mother of four who was allegedly murdered in her home on Sunday.

The 30-year-old was found dead at the home in Owanyilla on the Fraser Coast after Daniel Noel Holm handed himself in to Maryborough police station.

Mr Holm, 43, faced Maryborough Magistrates Court briefly on Monday, appearing via videolink.

He was charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence).

Police have not revealed how Ms Martin was killed but said she was found dead in the home.

A full investigation into the circumstances, including pathology testing, is underway.

Heartbreaking posts on Ms Martin’s Facebook page show her proudly posing with her children in back-to-school photos just last week.

Photos taken in recent times also show her in active wear inspiring others with her fitness journey with many commenting on her impressive weight loss transformation.

In the wake of the tragedy, tributes have poured in for the mum of four from shattered friends and loved ones, and a shocked community.

“Our last words to each other was stay safe,” Stacey Burns wrote in a post.

“Fly high beautiful.”

Avril Whitehouse wrote that her heart broke for Alana and her family.

Beccy Davis said she was lost for words.

“You were a beautiful person Alana,” she wrote.

“I’m so sorry this happened.

“Fly high gorgeous … forever remembered.”

Bronson Brown posted: “Love you lots Alana, my heart breaks for you and your family.”

Bee-Anne Flanigan wrote: “All your boys will forever know how much their mummy loved them! Love you forever.”

Police said the accused man had been “co-operative” with police and remained in the watch-house at Maryborough.

Detective Inspector Wade Lee said police would allege Ms Martin and Mr Holm were previously in a relationship and were known to police.

Asked whether more could have been done to prevent Ms Martin’s death, Det Insp Lee said that would be the subject of police investigations and external reviews.

Commenting generally, he said it was vital that community members “speak up when you are seeing offences”.

“We need to have these conversations in the broader community to keep people safe.’’

The discovery of Ms Martin’s death came after another woman was shot dead at a unit complex north of Brisbane early on Sunday, with neighbours reporting hearing three to four shots.

The deaths are not related.

Mr Holm has been remanded in custody and is due back in court on March 25.
