Police were on Wednesday investigating a possible hit and run on the Fraser Coast and the torching of a white ute overnight.

The ute was found burning in Cliveden Street in Point Vernon in the early hours of the morning, after being allegedly involved in a hit and run near the intersection of Banksia and Long Streets about 6.30pm, which left a woman in her 20s with minor injuries.

Emergency services quickly extinguished the flames.

A post to social media following the alleged hit and run identified a white ute as the vehicle that allegedly collided with a Toyota HiLux, leaving a young woman “shaken”.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said a woman in her 20s was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital with neck pain following the two-vehicle crash. She was reported to be in stable condition.
