A repeat unlicensed driver was busted behind the wheel just months after he was disqualified from driving for two years.

Police prosecutor Sonia Edwards said the charge related to an incident on December 9, 2024, about midday when police were carrying out patrols on Biggenden Mines Rd.

The police stopped a silver Nissan X-Trail, she said.

Adams was the only occupant of the vehicle and checks revealed that his licence had been suspended for two years when he faced Caboolture Magistrates Court on April 26, 2024, Sgt Edwards said.

He told officers he was driving to the quarry to deliver lunch for his dad.

Duty lawyer Warren Hunter said Adams had been working with his father, which required him to fix vehicles, restore them and then sell them to the public, placing them in a visible place on the highway outside Biggenden, which would now not be possible.

He said Adams had been relying on that business for income.

Adams had enrolled in a traffic offender’s program and was midway through that, Mr Hunter said.

He had paid a fee of $350 to complete the course.

Magistrate John Milburn said for Adams, choosing to drive had the potential for significant consequences due to his traffic history, including offences of driving without a licence.

Adams had previously been sentenced on multiple occasions for driving while disqualified and had previously spent time in prison for the offences.

Mr Milburn said Adams had spent time in custody leading up to being sentenced in November 2019.

What had saved Adams from jail this time was that he had not been convicted of driving without a licence that had been disqualified by a court order in the past five years.

Adams was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for 12 months.

He was disqualified from driving for two years.
